The New York Comic Con was this past weekend and today on the show I offer extensive coverage of all the collected edition news; from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image and even IDW and Aspen. I did blog about some of these items earlier in the week, but now I get to give my opinions – including praise and disappointment and I even raise a few questions of my own.

Also, it seems that last week’s show generated a lot of interest and I one of several comments comment and even play an audio clip from Damian (Kryptographik Podcast).

Vertigo Comics takes center stage on this installment of the CCL. First there is an actual solicit of the Absolute Prometha. It is slated for September 30 and will collect Promethea #1-12, (328 pgs, $99.99). Then, for the feature, I take a look at the two upcoming Swamp Thing Hardcovers: Roots of the Swamp Thing and Alan Moore’s Saga of the Swamp Thing Book 1. Not only do I cover the contents and basic information, but also what is conspicuously not collected, such as the pre-Moore work on Saga from Marty Pasko. And I ask the questions: Will that run ever get collected and, more importantly, should it ever get collected.

Also on the show this week, there’s information on The Spirit Archives Volume 26, Superman: Kryptonite Nevermore, The Wolverine Omnibus HC and the Alias Ultimate Collection 1 TP, collecting issues #1-15 (360 pgs, $34.99, May 20).

I just got done watching the latest Heroes episode with Hulu.com. Sign up if you haven’t already. Now I’m prepping for tomorrows podcast focusing on The Defenders. Until then, here are a few news, notes and links.

  • First up, my thanks to Joe, Forbidden Planet International, for blogging about my TwoMorrows Tune-In with Doug Zawisza author and editor of the upcoming Hawkman Companion. Also be sure to check out some pics of Alan Moore hanging out with Pádraig Ó Méalóid at New-Con 2008.
  • Amazon.com, via DC Comics, has Trinity Volume 1 TPB listed – 416 pages for $29.99 due out June 2, 2009. Exact contents are not known at this time, but price per color page is pretty good, if you ask me.
  • The 2008 Ignatz Award Winners. The Ignatz Awards, named for the character in the classic comic strip Krazy Kat by George Herriman, is a festival prize that recognizes outstanding achievement in comics and cartooning.
  • ABC is reviving V. I wonder if DC Comics will collect the 18-issue comic book series?
  • Review: Richard Bruton, FPI, on The Spirit Book 2 by Darwyn Cooke.
