Collected Comics Library Podcast #73

A much shorter show this week. I now have the exact date and time of the Comic Podcast Panel at the San Diego Comic Con and I also tell you who else will be on the panel with me.
I have an e-mail from one of my regulars, Shane and I even have a new question of the week.
The feature this week is Jules Feiffer’s The Great Comic Book Heroes. If you’re interested in comic book history, you’ll really want this book on your shelf.
Lastly I want to congratulate James McGhie the winner of the Avengers Volume 1 Marvel Masterworks. I do have a giveaway contest for this week, but you have to listen to find out how to enter.
sixstringguild over on the Forum wrote to tell me of the forthcoming Infinite Crisis Companion Trade Paperback due out in October. So far I only know that is book will contain the Villains United: Infinite Crisis Special because that is what the cover of the Infinite Crisis Companion Trade is. So it is reasonable to assume that the other three Infinite Crisis Specials will be collected, too: The OMAC Project, Rann-Thanagar War, and Day of Vengeance.
I would also hope that since DC is collecting these specials, this book would also contain the Infinite Crisis Secret Files, however, I doubt that it would contain Countdown to Infinite Crisis because that book was already reprinted in the OMAC Trade Paperback.
I’ll keep you up-to-date on this matter.

I decided this week to get away from Marvel and DC and go for something a little more interesting in terms of the history of the comic book industry: Tower Comics, and the whole bizarre saga both in the pages and in the court room of The T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents.
I also have some great news to report. The Essential Captain America Volume 3 and The Essential Man-Thing Volume 1 will both be coming out in November!
I do a little review of X-Men: The Last Stand and my thoughts on Swedish furniture store IKEA.

On this weeks show I mostly go over all the happenings at the recent Motor City Comic Con, including George Perez, Jim Steranko, Adam West, my car accident, the RIAA, FBI and Leonardo DaVinci.
I also have some wonderful news regarding everyone’s favorite cartoon sailor – Popeye and how you can own a Frank Miller autographed edition of Absolute Dark Knight for only $500.
I also have three audio excepts by George Perez from the Con talking about his new run of The Brave and The Bold and its future trade paperback, the upcoming Infinite Crisis Hardcover and Absolute Edition(?) (guess who asks that question?) and the state of Collected Editions in general.
I’m also giving away a copy of the Essential Captain America, but you have to listen to find out how to enter.

I do touch on the Motor City Comic Con, if you’ve read my Blogs, you know how I feel about it, but I go over everything in more detail including Perez, Steranko, West, and the RIAA next week. I’ll even have a few audio clips from George Perez, himself, regarding some books and his thoughts on Writing for the Trade in general.
