News has just broke that Dynamite will be reissuing DC Comics Shadow: Blood and Judgement by Howard Chaykin this April. This graphic novel was originally a four issue mini-series and brought Lamont Cranston and his crime fighting alter ego into the modern world. Much more violent then the 1930’s version, Chaykin’s incarnation was controversial and didn’t sit well with purists, but there’s no question that this is truly a work of art. Shadow: Blood and Judgement even gave way to a sequel that lasted 19 issues plus 2 annuals by writer Andy Helfer (editor of the mini-series), and artists Bill Sienkiewicz (issues 1-6), Marshall Rogers (issue 7), and Kyle Baker (issues 8-19 and annuals). No word on if that series will also get collected.
