I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July holiday here in the States. It’s time to get back into the Collected Edition business here at the CCL. As you can see I did a little bit of a website redesign. I’ve added a lot of new back-end programming to make the whole operation smoother, but you’ll hardly even notice (which is a good thing). I’ve also decided to get back into Twitter, so be sure to follow me for quick Collected Edition tidbits, insight, humor and general daily mundane life happenings.
On to some links:

  • Shaun Manning, Staff Writer CBR, has an article on the upcoming Terry Moore Strangers in Paradise Omnibus. The limited edition, slipcased, signed and numbered three-volume hardcover set will debut at San Diego’s Comic-Con International. The Strangers in Paradise Omnibus includes the entire 106-issue story across two hardcover books, with a third hardcover collecting the original series cover art. The print run is limited to 1250 copies, and will never be reprinted in this form ($159.95). Softcover editions of the two story volumes will be released next year and available for purchase separately, but the cover gallery is limited to this collection. I can’t wait to get my hands on this CE!
  • PR: IDW Publishing is proud to announce a partnership with Archie Comics to reprint some of the property’s most iconic stories in deluxe hardcover and trade paperback editions. Under the agreement, IDW will reprint sequential newspaper strips for the first time, offer multiple collections of the very best Archie comics material from the past seven decades, and add to the brand’s digital presence. The newspaper strip collections will be incorporated into the much-lauded Library of American Comics (Dick Tracy, The Complete Terry & the Pirates), helmed by Eisner award-winner Dean Mullaney. IDW will also publish special collections of Archie’s Madhouse and Archie as Pureheart the Powerful, a comedic super hero series that ran during the 1960’s.
  • MR: VIZ Media Announces Publishing Schedule For One Piece. Beginning in January 2010 and continuing through June 2010, five new One Piece manga volumes will be published each month, for a total of 30 new volumes. The new schedule will launch with volumes 24-28.
  • Alex Segura, DC The Source, has a released the Alex Ross dustjacket cover to the upcoming Absolute Justice. Also relaesed are a few character sketches.
  • The Collected Editions Blog has unearthed some 2010 DC Comics Collected Editions including DC Universe: Origins – what could that be? Join the speculation.
  • ICv2.com has a preview of You Shall Die by Your Own Evil Creation! by Fletcher Hanks (Fantagraphics). Rumor has it that this book (Volume 2) and the first book I Shall Destroy All Civilized Planets! (Volume 1) will be collected together into one giant Stardust HC.
  • Newsarama talks to Mort Walker & Jerry Dumas about the new collection of Sam’s Strip: The Comic About Comics (Fantagraphics).
  • Review: Satisfactory Comics on Lone Wolf And Cub Review Series (Thanks to Tom Spurgeon, Comics Reporter, for the link).
  • Review: Richard, FPI Blog, on Moomin: The Complete Comic Strip Volume 4 by Tove Jansson (Drawn & Quarterly).
  • Review: J. Caleb Mozzocco, Every Day Is Like Wednesday, Ten things I learned from the Marvel Pets Handbook.
  • Review: Brent Schoonover on The Comic Book Podcast Companion by Eric Houston (Twomorrows Publishing). Awesome! Thanks Brent!

If it’s affordable I’d double up on the Fletcher Hanks book. I have vol. 1, but no Vol. 2 yet.
