Tarzan has always been one of my favorite characters. He is so simple: strength, knife, lion cloth. Yet so complex: aristocrat, orphan, ape-man. Since Edgar Rice Burroughs created him in 1912, he has been a model for not only other pulp heroes but TV, film and comic book superheroes, as well. Today, after nearly 10 years, I finally get to cover him; and it’s well timed, too. As Dark Horse, IDW and Titan dominate the Tarzan reprint arena, another publisher has cleared the way and entered the game: Dynamite. I talk about all the recent Archive-type collected editions, how they fit chronologically and how they may all line up on your shelf.
Also on the show are several news and notes including: Justice League of America Omnibus Volume 1 HC, The Superior Spider-Man TP Volume 6: Goblin Nation, Superman Vol. 4: Psi-War HC, Buck Rogers by Murphy Anderson by Hermes Press, Marvel’s 75 Anniversary Omnibus and Red Raven #1, The Wonder Woman Comic Strip from IDW, DC’s Transmetropolitan, A “Century” of Extraordinary Gentlemen and upcoming Marvel Omnibus’ by way of Hatchette.
