Since their inception in the pages of Fantastic Four, Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal and the rest of The Inhumans have garnered a special place in the hearts of Marvel Fan-Boys. Today we celebrate the recent release of their first Marvel Masterwork (and their second coming out next year) and we take a look at all of their Collected Editions. We also look at what isn’t collected, particularly the 1988 Inhumans Graphic Novel by Ann Nocenti.
Also on the show, the CE world is being turned upside down by the news from Neal Adams that his 1978 Superman vs. Muhammad Ali will be getting the Deluxe Edition treatment with new coloring and the Green Lantern/Green Arrow: Hard Traveling Heroes storyline may be getting an Absolute edition. On the Marvel side – David Gabriel, Marvel’s Senior VP of Sales, has hinted to Heidi MacDonald that, Later on in the year, we’re going to do an omnibus with full runs from things like Night Nurse, Hellcat, and some other things you really wouldn’t collect anywhere else. Not sure what to make of that, we’ll have to wait and see. I wonder if Tigra or Shanna the She-Devil will be a part of the book.
A Night Nurse Omnibus? Really?? Why is Marvel even talking about doing things like this (and actually publishing garbage like the Secret Wars II Omnibus) when we don’t have a single Omnibus collecting classic Avengers, Captain America, or non-Frank Miller Daredevil material?
It seems they’re only willing to put out Omnibuses for major characters when they have a new movie coming out, which is just absurd. I don’t mind having to wait for decent collections, but the fact that I’m going to have to wait until 2011 for a second Spider-Man Omnibus while Marvel screws around with crap like the Acts of Vengeance Omnibus is sort of a slap in the face.
Also, thanks for the run-down on the Inhumans. I was wondering how complete the Masterworks were going to be as far as collecting all of the characters’ appearances, and it sounds like they’re doing a pretty good job so far. I look forward to there being a third volume!

And I’m not happy about the Night Nurse stuff being put in an omnibus either. I really want that series, but I don’t spend $ on omni’s and I usually have most of what’s included anyhow. For example, I already own the Cat mini!
