I know my audience well and I’m willing to bet you will have at least one of these Out Of Print aka OOP collected editions on your shelf. The only questions are: which one and how much is it worth?

CCL Podcast #412 – No More Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four Volume 4 The End Is Fourever TP

Fantastic Four Volume 4 The End Is Fourever TP

Collected Comics Library Podcast #412
21.3Mb; 23m 11s

Host
Chris Marshall / @ChrisCCL

Topics include:
Mad Max: Fury Road, Game Of Thrones binge-watching, Agents of Atlas after Agent Carter, Deconstructing Guardians Of The Galaxy Solo Classic Omnibus, Annihilation Classic HC and what’s missing.

Finally, there is talk this week of the lack of Fantastic Four and X-Men merchandise and only scant appearances in the comics. I take a look at the current state of collected editions of these teams. There seems to be a fair amount of X-Men and Wolverine books, but barely any FF. Listed here are the only collected editions that are currently solicited:
Marvel Masterworks The Fantastic Four Volume 17 HC, 06/10/15
Fantastic Four Volume 4 The End Is Fourever TP, 06/17/15
Fantastic Four By Aguirre-Sacasa And Mcniven TP, 07/15/15
…and that’s it – no FF books after July 15 and that is with the movie coming out on August 7!
I hope this isn’t the end, but it sure looks bleak.

Summary: After a sex-tape scandal, former Hollywood child star turned Z-lister Chondra Jackson returns to her hometown of Effigy Mound, IL, to find a seemingly impossible crime ; a fresh corpse in an ancient Indian burial site. Even weirder, the murder resembles a scene from an episode of her old TV show, Star Cop, a live-action children’s show about a kid detective.
As Chondra starts to investigate, she stumbles upon a bizarre cult that worships celebrities as eternal effigies. And these cult members aren’t just worshiping—they’re also ritually sacrificing anyone who defies their veneration of the beautiful and famous. Chondra’s probe takes her on a terrifying tour of burial mounds across the world, from Stonehenge to the Nazca Lines of Peru. But what is the link between the cult, Chondra’s hometown, and her own bloodline? Will Chondra become the hero detective she played as a child…or is she in fact the cult’s unwitting messiah?
Written by rising star Tim Seeley (BATMAN ETERNAL, GRAYSON, Revival) and illustrated by Marley Zarcone (Black Circle, MADAME XANADU), EFFIGY is a twisted murder mystery and conspiracy tale that examines celebrity, godhood, and the price of fame.
Collects EFFIGY #1-6.

Summary: In the near future, America’s worst nightmare has come true. With military adventurism overseas bogging down the Army and National Guard, the U.S. government mistakenly neglects the very real threat of anti-establishment militias scattered across the 50 states. Like a sleeping giant, Middle America rises up and violently pushes its way to the shining seas, coming to a standstill at the line in the sand—Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ.
In the concluding volume of this Deluxe Edition series, embedded journalist Matty Roth watches as the Free States of America and the US wage civil war on the island of Manhattan—also known as the DMZ—with all his allegiances wiped away. As Matty covers the battles on the ground, old allies and enemies resurface and Matty must prove that after all he’s been through that he is a changed man. Will the choices he makes reflect this? And how will New York City look after it’s all said and done? Brian Wood’s critically acclaimed series DMZ ends here in this stunning, final chapter. Collects DMZ #45-59.
