- Carlo Rambaldi (September 15, 1925 – August 10, 2012) - an Italian special effects artist who is most famous for designing the title character of the film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and the mechanical head-effects for the creature in Alien (1979) (for both Rambaldi won an Oscar)
- Raden Ahmad Kosasih (1919 – 2012) – Indonesian comics writer
- Robert Studley Forrest Hughes, AO (28 July 1938 – 6 August 2012) - an Australian-born art critic, writer and maker of television documentaries
- Carlos Albiac (1928 – 2012) – Argentine comics writer
