- Tony DeZuniga (1933 – May 11, 2012) – a Filipino comic-book artist best known for his work for DC Comics, and the co-creator of the characters, Jonah Hex and Black Orchid with John Albano.
- Carlos Loiseau aka Caloi – the cartoonist and creator of the famous comic strip character Clemente died 63.
- Maurice Bernard Sendak (June 10, 1928 – May 8, 2012) – an American writer and illustrator of children’s literature. He was best known for his book Where the Wild Things Are, first published in 1963.
- Žarko Beker – Croatian cartoonist and animator.
