When is comes to classic collected editions restoration plays a huge role. It comes in many different forms, lettering, color (including black and white), formatting maintenance to the panel and boarders and a keen eye and memory to reconstruct the comics books if any slicing occurred. Today we have a few examples along with some other relevant links:
- Reconstruction 1: Rich Johnston, CBR’s Lying In The Gutters (Volume 2 Column 203), reports on a major misprint in the recent Saga of Swamp Thing Book 1. Steve Bissette talks extensively on the subject on his blog.
- Reconstruction 2: Todd Klein on relettering the Death: The High Cost Of Living mini-series for it’s inclusion in the Absolute Death oversized hardcover.
- Reconstruction 3: Corey Breen, Senior Pre-Press artist (DC Comics), has done art restoration on the Absolute Watchmen collection, has a blog with lots of great information.
- Reconstruction 4: Not so much to do with Comic Books, but The Digital Bits has a great article on The Reconstruction and Restoration of John Wayne’s The Alamo.
- Heidi MacDonald, The Beat, picked up a story on the Gemstone troubles from the Disney Comics Worldwide Blog. Looks like no EC Archives for a while.
- Amazing Spider-Man Vol.2: Revelations TPB, which is rated PG, Ages 12+ by Marvel, was found on a shelf by a 6-year-old boy in his elementary school. For a child that young the book contained objectionable material including a pinup of Mary Jane in a swimsuit. I smell a lawsuit.
- Luba, the long-awaited hardcover sequel to Palomar by Gilbert Hernandez. This 600-page tome collects over 100 stories chronicling the experiences of the imposing matriarch and her extended family in America. View a photo & video slideshow preview embedded here.
- I had no idea this was going on: Michigan Comics: Mirth, Mockery and Mayhem exhibit opens March 31. I’m sorry I can’t make the Opening Reception and Panel Discussion tonight.

Needed to find out why Tales To Astonish #13 was included in Annihilation Classic HC, no answer was given.
The Annihilation Classic HC features the first appearances and memorable stories showcasing members of the Annihilation Conquest event and the current Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series. Groot, who first appeared in Tales To Astonish #13, is a member of that team.
I’m looking for a complete chronological listing of all Superman TPB’s since 1986. I’m not sure where on the net to get this information because there are so many.
To me this is a vague question. Do you mean a complete chronological listing of all Superman comic books that have been collected in Trade Paperback form? What about the Hardcovers? What about Superman books that has been published since 1986, but reprint comic books from before 1986, such as Archives, Showcase Presents and Chronicles? What about crossovers like Our Worlds At War? What about the Superman/Batman comic run? In any event the best possible place would be Rob Helmerich’s Trade Paperback List: Superman section.
I wanted to download some EC Comic’s and I was looking to be able to read some of the rarer and harder to find comics in their entirety.
Sorry, this is not a BitTorrent site nor do I have pre-scanned comics available to download.
There used to be pdf’s of the checklists for easy downloading, not just xls files.
I did get several requests to change the format of the checklists. Many people do not have PDF editors, so to compensate I changed the format to that of a spreadsheet.
