I mentioned on last weeks show (#173) that sometime in the upcoming weeks I would be reviewing Al Capp’s Complete Shmoo: The Comic Books (Dark Horse Archives). That idea got the better of me and I decided, why wait? So I’m presenting it for you today. Let me start by saying that this book is truly exceptional. Readers of this blog and podcast know the value of a well packaged collected edition. This book sets a new standard as far as backups and extra features go. It is a solid lock for a place on the CCL Top 10 Books of the Year. Come listen and hear about all the goodness the Shmoos will bring you.
Secondly, I touch on two other great hardcovers that I received from DCBS on Monday: The Starman Omnibus and Jack Kirby’s OMAC. I was curious to know just exactly what is collected in these books and what sorts of extras are included. I share that information with you today, as well.
Not much in the way of news this week, but I did manage to find an interview Newsarama did with Dark Horse regarding their Archive program and the results from David Stepp’s DC Archive Survey are available. All this and the New Releases of the Week.
