Comic Book Blog browsing on a Monday Morning

It’s not often that I comment on the weather, because time is all relative in the Internet universe. But, WOW, was it just fantastic!. No clouds what-so-ever and a nice 77 degrees with a slight breeze all weekend. Nigh time was calm and cool. It was nice to sit on the deck and drink down a gin and tonic, my libation of choice for the summertime. It may be until next year when I crack open a new bottle of Tanqueray. Good bye Michigan summer, on to today’s links:
- Detroit Comics owner, Brian Kelly was featured in this Sunday’s Detroit Freep Press FIVE THINGS: About a comics guy.
- Teacher Neal Levin and his after-school cartoon drawing class at Hickory Grove Elementary in Bloomfield Hills was featured in the Freep, too; Cartoon character: Bloomfield Hills man teaches kids to draw. This is the same school were my kids attend, but they are not in the cartooning class yet. Perhaps in a year or two. Soccer and baseball still reign supreme.
- The October issue of Vanity Fair has an except from “Schulz and Peanuts” from David Michaelis. In an excerpt from his new biography of Schulz, Michaelis describes how Snoopy saved the day, embodying a generation’s dreams and dilemmas. Too bad there is no link to the actual article, so here is a link to the official website.
- Getting ready for Halloween, Joe at the FPI Blog has some news on the classic film Nosferatu. And after you see that film go check out Shadow of the Vampire which is a fictional telling about the making of the film (or is it?).
- All the 30 Days of Night Movie and Comic Book news that IDW sees fit to print.
- Major Spoiler’s want to give you a copy of Absolute Dark Knight.
- Review: Richard Bruton on The Ultimates
- Review: Johanna Carlson on Fell: Feral City
- Review: Tom Spurgeon on Digesting the Child Within
- Review: The Collected Editions Blog is going through all the Gotham Central trades. Great series and a great website.
- Review: Greg Burgas looks at a slue of books
