It’s rare when I get the whole house to myself on a Saturday. I was able to get all caught up on my comics reading which included Countdown, Flash, Wonder Woman and Amazons Attack. All of which I’m enjoying very much.
For those of you who want to listen to more of me, first check out the SuperNot Podcast #18. Mike and Rob were kind enough to invite me to sit in on their show and discuss various things. After that you can hear John Mayo and I talk May 2007 trade statistics over at his Comic Book Page Podcast. Now on with a few links:

Get ready for Frank Castle in the digital age! I have it on a reliable source that a Punisher DVD-ROM set is in the works. Exact details have not been given, but if it’s anything like the other DVD-ROM sets it will be a complete retrospective of the character and all the appearances.

School may be out for my kids, but they still have baseball, day camp, swimming lessons and a myriad of there things to do. I can’t wait for school to start so things can slow down. In the meantime, here are some links that I should have gotten to sooner:

Collected Comics Library Podcast #126
66,968Kb; 71m 25s
Today I have something a little different. It’s an interview with Timothy Callahan, author of Grant Morrison: The Early Years. Besides going over his life in comics and his book, Tim and I talk about the collected editions market and he even shares his own Top 10!
You may be wondering why this isn’t a Trade Secrets Podcast, well, all is explained inside. And per usual I go over the New Releases of the Week.

First up today, there seems to be a major complaint about the Jack Kirby Fouth World Omnibus. The problem? The poor paper quality. Some are saying that it is just a step up from a Showcase using low quality newsprint, instead of using the high quality paper that is used in the Archive series. At a $50 price tag, many, included me, figured this would be the case. For the record, I have not seen the book, and I probably won’t until my copy arrives from DCBS in early July. You can discuss it more on the CCL Forum.
Now on with a few links:
- Marvel Zombies HC Gets 5th Printing. Mary Jane gets the cover this time. More fun with Mary Jane. She seems to Marvel hottest property right now. Excellent marketing, Marvel!
- Tom Spurgeon, The Comics Reporter, buys a few collected editions. Ironically, he hope that the quality of Jack’s book is good. Wonder what ‘ol Tom is think now?
- Friend of the show and fellow Podcaster, Augie De Blieck Jr, celebrates 10 years of his Pipeline column at Comic Book Resources. Congrats, Augie!
- Two reviews from Silver Bullet Comics, Dave Wallace on From Hell - a book that is a lot better then the movie, go figure. And Michael Deeley reviews Showcase Presents: The Phantom Stranger Volume 1. One of the better Showcase books.
- Collected Editions Blog reviews Absolute DC: New Frontier and Absolute Watchmen. The CCL even gets some love.
- Valiant Entertainment will be publishing a Harbinger deluxe hardcover collecting the full Harbinger origin story (Harbinger #0-7) for the first time ever, and includes an all-new “Origin of Harada” story by Jim Shooter that features the first appearance of a new key Valiant character!

- The Daily Cross Hatch reviews EC Archives: Tales From the Crypt Volume 1
- IDW will bring back The Badger and publish a nice collected edition
- GeekMonthly.com reviews Batman Black and White Volume 3

Collected Comics Library Podcast #125
25,848Kb; 27m 18s
Sort of a milestone episode this week, as I produce show number 125! But really, it’s not a big deal. What is big, is that I finally got around to watching Spider-Man 3. I really enjoyed it and I share some thoughts on the subject.
I also do a double feature this week focusing on Wally Wood’s short lived series M.A.R.S. Patrol Total War and give a Marvel Masterworks history lesson on Nick Fury and his lack of one. But that’s all about to change this September.
All this, plus news of EC’s Frontline Combat Archives Vol. 1 for 2008 and the New Releases of the Week.
