Collected Comics Library Podcast #123
40,036Kb; 42m 42s
The podcast is up and running, but the show notes and book links will have to wait a few more hours because I’ve been selected for jury duty.
I believe in Harvey Dent.

Revised Friday, June 1, 11:30 am
I’ve been very busy the past 24 hours. I meant to do the show notes yesterday, but I got sidetracked and this is the first time I’ve been on my computer since I uploaded the show late Wednesday night.
The past week has brought so much DC Comics news that I decided to do s pseudo-Previews show, featuring DC trade releases for October and November. I also see that DC has released December, as I thought they would. I’ll go over those books next week before the feature on Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer.
I’m slowing working towards updating the Release Schedule page and the checklists. I hope to have them done this weekend.
Lastly, I rant on the absence and reemergence of the Mad Archives.

This past Memorial Day weekend I decided to take a little vacation from my computer - Internet, e-mail, forums - the whole gambit. Every once and a while I need a break from sitting and glaring at a screen. So what did I do instead? The next best thing or course - I watched TV more then I wanted to. Lots of sports this weekend: Tigers, Pistons, golf and two Car races. I also got caught up on a few movies I’ve been meaning to see: The Queen and The DiVinci Code: The Queen was excellent. Very political, provoking, amusing and excellent acting all around. It really paints a screwed up picture of The Royal Family. DiVinci is another story altogether. It was OK, you may want to rent it for the visual references that appear in the book. That part was kind of neat. Monday night I turned on The History Channel and watched three hours of Star Wars documentaries: Star Wars Tech and Star Wars The Legacy Revealed. Both delve into the story behind the story. Tech is about inventing real world gadgets based on Star Wars weapons, paraphernalia and technology. Legacy is all about the legends and myths that inspired George Lucas throughout the series. If you are a Star Wars fan, and you most likely are, both are worth your time.
Now, on with a few links:
- ICv2 News wraps up Star Wars Celebrauion IV. How many Chewbaccas does it take to change a lightbulb?
- Tom Spurgeon, The Comics Reporter wants to get you ready for CCI 2007. Before I went last year, I read the 2006 edition post - it took me three days.

Collected Comics Library Podcast #122
47,675Kb; 50m 35s
This past weekend was the Motor City Comic-Con and I was fortunate to attend. My son, Patrick, received a wonderful Batman sketch from Buzz and I was able to get my Sgt. Fury and (Silver Age) Human Torch Masterworks signed by Dick Ayers. I also picked up a few monthly comics to fill in the gaps in my Star Wars and Punisher collections. I was also able to purchase two Marvel Essential Handbooks for the price of one, but now I’m regretting it. These reference books should be in color and I explain why in the Podcast.
Both DC Comics and Marvel have announced their Fall solicitations and there are some very cool books on both lists.
The main topic of the show this week in honor of Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles this weekend. In it I, with help from members of the forum, give recommendations on what to buy to start or add to your collections. My sincere thanks to everyone who wrote in. As usual, I go over the New Releases of the Week. and lastly I announce the winner of the Death of Superman Trade Paperback Giveaway.

Collected Comics Library Podcast #121
26,788Kb; 28m 18s
I’ll be at the Motor-City Con this Sunday, wish I could make it all weekend, but I have other obligations that involve baseball and beer.
On the show this week, I briefly talk about the contents of both Brad Meltzer’s JLA HC and Marvel Masterworks Thor Volume 6 and the value of the 1st Printing of the Marvel Zombies HC.
I’m giving away my personal copy of The Death of Superman TPB. You must listen to find out how to enter. Don’t worry it’s very easy.
For the feature, I review Matt Wagner’s Batman and the Mad Monk. A sequel to his Batman and the Monster Men from 2006. You may remember that I reviewed that Trade last September for Podcast #85. I’m glad to report that I’m much more happier the second time around.
Lastly, I always rundown the New Releases of the Week.
