Detroit Sports Report

All of sports went to hell this week for people in Michigan.

Friday Night
First and foremost, The Pistons/Pacers game on Friday was a complete and utter mess. As far as I’m concerned everyone is at fault: fans, Wallace, Artest, security, coaches, other players. There is just no excuse for the behavior. I was watching it live and the foul came down. Patty was on the computer in the basement and I “softly� yelled at her (not to wake the kids) to turn on the TV, a fight was breaking out. The next thing we knew Artest was in the stands and fists were flying. What more can be said. It’s a black eye on the NBA and Detroit.

Saturday Afternoon
Michigan v. Ohio State was a complete and utter lay down. Lloyd got out coached by Tressel again. Where was the defense? And please let’s not make excuses for a Freshman Quarterback and a Freshman Running Back. Both theses guys are very good and if U of M won we would all be crying as to why Hart is not in contention for the Heisman.
Michigan State v. Penn State was even worse. Joe Pa is now terrible as a head coach and he was parading around like he won the National Championship. PSU beat an underachieving MSU team. That’s all.

Sunday Afternoon
I blame the Lions defeat solely on Steve Mariucci. You simply don’t give Culpepper 3rd and 12 when the Vikings should of had 4th and 2. In all likelihood they would’ve kicked a field goal and the Lions would still be up 19-18. Now if Minnesota did go for it and get a first down or a touchdown. It’s all washed out. But Mariucci made Tices’ decision for him. Bad call coach. Don’t pin this one on Joey.
