This week

I had a great interview Thursday afternoon for a recruiting job. Go figure, I’m looking for a job in the IT field and now I may be helping IT professionals find a job.

This past weekend I went to Homecoming at my alma mater, Ferris State University. I had a great time and I saw a lot of old friends. I didn’t drink too much, but I was up ‘til 4:00am Friday night. No, I did not drive while drinking.

Lions won! I never had a doubt. I think the Giants are severely overrated. The World Series is on. I’m rooting for the Cards, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Boston won.

I’ve started reading my old Tom Peters “50 books. I need some motivation. I’ve also decided to do something more serious about my health. I’ve got a physical November 10 and I want to get some weight and cholesterol down before I go.

I haven’t sold all of my old comics, yet. I don’t think I’ll get as much as I want. So for now I’m holding on to them.

Halloween is this Sunday and Patrick will be Spider-Man and Erin will be Tigger. I can’t wait! I’ll also breakout my yearly tradition of reading The Long Halloween after the kids go to bed.

A Super Man

Christopher Reeve passed away this week. It sure was sad. He was to me the one and only Superman. When I pass on it sure will be fun to go flying with him.

It’s not much, but I bought a new lamp for my bedside table. Why? I’ve decided to start reading a lot more. I’ve never finished The DaVinci Code and I’d like to read it before the movie comes out. I also would like to go back and re-read all the Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan novels. That in it self is a feat! Now, they say that you should never reread in bed, but I have a small house and neither Patty nor I can get much privacy.

My refrigerator broke down this week and I had to spend $500 buck on a new one.

I sold a bunch of comics on eBay this week; the total was about $75.00. Not bad but I wanted a few bucks more. I think I’m going to go all out and sell my collection of JLA and JSA. I really don’t want to, but I think I can get good money for them and I’m not getting the satisfaction from monthlies that I once did. I was debating whether or not to get a full run of Dr. Fate. I decided against it. I figure that eBay isn’t going anywhere and If I want to. I’m sure I can find those issues again in the future.

Patrick is doing great at school! He is really coming out of his shell. Patty and I are so happy and proud. He is doing so many arts and crafts that we thought he might never do. He is such a great kid. He wants to be Hulk for Halloween. Erin, who is just too darn cute, is going to be Tigger for sure.

I’m going to try and golf tomorrow. Ari and Chad are in from Washington (state) and I’d like to get 18 in if I can. It supposed to be cold and rainy.

Wes moved down to Miami this week, I wish him the best and I’ll miss my best friend. I hope to see him in March, when I go down to Orlando.

Life as a Dad and Husband

As I sit down and write this Blog, former Tigers Jeff Weaver is pitching for the Dodgers in St. Louis. Weaver is a serious head-case and I hope the Cardinals win it all. Especially after the Yankees won a miracle game in the Bronx last night.

I’m winding down my time at the Country Club. I’m working mainly Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I cut back to hourly and that’s fine by me. I think I may comeback next season, working Sundays only. I’ll be able to golf as much as I want and Patrick can go to Day Camp. Something that he loves.

I’m spending my off days watching Erin and basically being a stay-at-home Dad. It’s a real treat! Patrick is going to preschool and I get to spend all my time with her. I’m also selling many of my comics on e-Bay. I hope to get enough cash to pay for a few more Archives and Masterworks. I’m still collecting Nightwing, Robin, JSA, Punisher and all the Star Wars comics. I’m considering selling my entire run of JLA 1-100 and the entire Batman “No Man’s Land series. I just don’t know how much I’d get for them.

I’m also looking for a new full time job. I may also go for my A+ certification and then go into networking. That really does interest me and the money is good. I also want to more with my website, but it’s hard to find the time. Erin goes down for her nap at 1:00 and then I only have 2 hours to get on my computer. Many timer though, I have to do chores around the house. At night I’m trying to work out more and by the end of the day I’m just dog-tired. Kids can wear you out. Today, however, I managed to clean out the garage and get it ready for winter. I’ll probably mow the lawn two more times this year and I still have to clean out the gutters after the leaves fall.

Last Sunday Patty and I watched Desperate Housewives. The show looks to be good. I like the “Twin Peaks angle and Patty likes the “Sex and the City camaraderie. I’m also watching Smallville. I think adding Lois was a good move and I hope Lex and Clark remain at odds.

Patty and I have been discussing moving in the Spring but we’re not sure where we want to move, maybe back to Grosse Pointe, maybe to Beverly Hills. It depends were I get a job. I don’t really care. I’m just getting tired of this house. I like it a lot. It’s just getting too small.
